He quickly secured a deal to build buildings for NCR. The relationship with NCR resulted in 12 buildings throughout Ohio and Michigan, and propelled the Altman Company into a prominent role in the real estate development market.
A second generation of Altman success joined the company in 1964. Robert Altman was running a successful housing development company when he merged with his father in developing commercial real estate. Together, they furthered the growth and success of the Altman company, securing deals with companies such as W.T. Grant and Prudential Life.
Richard and Louis Altman joined the company in 1986 and 1991 respectively, as the third generation of leadership. The company has become a true regional leader in the industry with projects in most states east of the Mississippi River and some projects further west.
The company was named a Weatherhead School of Management Family Firm of Distinction in 2001 and continues the legacy left by Alvin Altman. The principles that make the company a success today are the same as they were in 1957: honesty, integrity and hard work.
